SB 974 -- MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES

SPONSOR:  Shields (Dempsey)

COMMITTEE ACTION:  Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on
Health Care Policy by a vote of 9 to 0.

Beginning November 1, 2007, this bill changes the date by which
the Department of Mental Health has to develop a plan for persons
on the waiting list for services from November 1, 2003, to
November 1 of each year.

FISCAL NOTE:  No impact on state funds in FY 2007, FY 2008, and
FY 2009.

PROPONENTS:  Supporters say the bill is necessary to require the
Department of Mental Health to publish an annual waiting list for
mental health services.

Testifying for the bill were Senator Shields; and Missouri
Association of Rehabilitation Facilities.

OPPONENTS:  There was no opposition voiced to the committee.
